innovAGEING National Awards Winner 2019 – Increasing Care and Service Productivity
At the inaugural innovAGEING awards night Lamson was awarded the Australian National Award for increasing care and service productivity based on the work Lamson have done at MiCare. In 2016 Lamson identified that aged care workers were manually moving meals, laundry, waste and other supplies, taking staff away from face-to-face resident care. After working with almost 40 providers over the past three years we have confirmed that aged-care facilities are losing anywhere from 5 to 20 hrs/day moving trolleys.
Lamson knew that if aged-care trolley transportation was automated, staff could focus on the core business of caring for residents which supported the vision we had for launching the Lamson aged care AMR solution in 2017/2018.
Lamson together with Prins Willem Alexandra Village (Micare) became the first in the world to design and create a person-centred robotic system for the aged care environment. We tested the system with residents, families and staff – even making a range of brand new trolleys for aged care. The new approach transformed operations and future industry building design has also changed, improving service productivity and giving staff the tools, they need to do what they do best – Care.
Congratulations to the QLD team and all those interstates who have supported with R&D, installations, problem solving, creative ideas and making the vision a reality for a very worthy industry.
